Have there been published studies showing a protective effect of omega-3 in PTSD (Post Tramatic Stress Disorder) and concussions?
There is ongoing research (mostly in rodent models) looking at the possible beneficial effects of omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil on head injuries and concussions. These studies were initiated in part because DHA and EPA are known to be converted in the brain and elsewhere into highly anti-inflammatory products known as protectins and resolvins which might offer neuroprotection. No direct information on humans is yet available.
