Can 900 mg of EPA/DHA be taken on an empty stomach or is it better to take with a meal?
There are published human studies which have shown that both the triglyceride and the ethyl ester forms of EPA/DHA have a better absorption across the gut wall (ie,bioavailability) when taken with a meal. Further, a higher-fat meal was found to give a somewhat better absorption than a low-fat meal. This is not necessarily meant to be a rationale to eat high-fat meals . We are just sharing the published evidence-based information.
